CCB's Brandon Faubert, Assistant Professor of Medicine (HemOnc) has been named the Assistant Chair of the Committee on Cancer Biology to succeed Dr. Shannon Elf. The assistant chair will help Committee Chair Dr. Kee with growing the CCB community and looks forward to working with current and future CCB students.
Dr. Faubert completed his PhD at McGill University in Montreal, and his postdoctoral studies at the Children’s Research Institute at UT Southwestern in Dallas. He joined the University of Chicago in 2021, and is a member of the Committees on Molecular Metabolism and Nutrition and Cancer Biology; and is a member of the University of Chicago Metabolomics and Cancer Centers.
Dr. Faubert’s research focuses on the metabolic changes that support cancer growth and metastasis. His group use a variety of metabolic tools, including stable isotope tracing, metabolomics and flux analysis to dissect the metabolic programs that underlie aggressive features in tumors. His lab aims to understand tumor metabolism in vivo, and leverage these findings into novel therapeutic strategies. Dr. Faubert has been involved with numerous training and graduate programs throughout his career, and is dedicated on mentorship, and fostering a strong and supportive CCB community of scientific excellence.
